Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu was developed by the Gracie family in Brazil and focuses on taking your opponent to the ground, controlling them and forcing them to submit using a range of chocks, holds, and locks. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu employs dynamic techniques of pressure, movement and momentum to subdue and overpower opponents. In Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class’s students wear traditional Gi uniforms and a belt to display their rank (White, Blue, Purple, Brown or Black).

Kids Program

At East Side Jiu-Jitsu we endeavour to make our kids program fun, engaging and accessible for all. Jiu-Jitsu has an incredible ability to teach children lesson that they can take straight from the mat and into their daily lives. Through training Jiu-Jitsu, young people learn resilience, patience, perseverance, self-confidence, how to positively harness their aggression and anti-bullying techniques.

No Gi – Submission Wrestling

No Gi Jiu-Jitsu and Submission wrestling takes the traditional elements of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and uses them in a more free flowing setting which can easily be applied to all combat and self-defence situation. Using a combination of Jiu-Jitsu and wrestling practise students learn to control and submit their opponent without the traditional grips and holds of Jiu-Jitsu in a Gi.
